Board Meeting Update
The Texas Board of Professional Engineers Quarterly Board and Committee Meetings were held February 10-11, 2016. Highlights include the following:

  • Decoupling P.E. Exam from Experience

At the Regular Board meeting, the Board approved rules to allow for the 'decoupling' of the experience requirements for licensure and the approval to take the PE exam. These rules will officially be implemented in May 2016.
EITs do not need to do anything at this time.

Stay tuned to the TBPE website and watch emails for further updates.

This change will allow a Texas Engineer in Training (EIT) to register for the PE exam prior to meeting the full experience requirement. The May implementation date means the new system will be in effect for the upcoming October 2016 PE exam but will not be applicable for the April 2016 exam. Additional information and FAQs on decoupling can be found at:http://engineers.texas.gov/decoupling.html
