Proposed Rules Regarding Decoupling the P.E. Exam from Experience

These proposed rules have been posted today for public comment. These rule changes will "decouple" the P.E. examination from the experience requirements from licensure.  The intent of these changes is to promote licensure of qualified engineers by allowing applicants to take the PE exam at an earlier stage of the application process and keep young engineers engaged in the process without reducing the requirements for licensure.

Board Rule Changes
Rule changes were necessary as a result of recent statute changes from the Legislative Session. These rules were effective December 14, 2015.  Refer to TBPE Law and Rules.

Changes include the following:

  • Removal of the $200 Professional Fee
  • New Options for Military Service Members
  • Revised State Contract Guidelines

Agency Holiday Closures

December 23, 2015 - Agency Closes at Noon
December 24-25, 2015 - Agency Closed
December 31-January 1, 2015 - Agency Closed
