DECOUPLING OF PE EXAM AND EXPERIENCE
Changes adopted at the February Board meeting will allow a Texas EIT (Engineer in Training) to register for the PE exam prior to meeting the full experience requirement if they choose to do so. These rules became effective May 1, 2016.
Online EIT Application System
Note: EIT Application Deadline - EIT applications submitted prior to July 15, 2016 will be processed to meet the 9/1/16 NCEES exam registration deadline.
Already a Texas EIT? - The online EIT application system is ONLY for new EIT applications. You do not need to apply for a new EIT Certification. If your certification is expired, go to this form to renew. Check Your Status on the EIT Roster Here. The online EIT application does NOT automatically register you for the PE examination. All PE exam registrations are handled through NCEES at http://www.ncees.org. The next PE Exam registration window opens June 20, 2016.
NCEES SEEKS HELP FROM ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERS
The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) is currently seeking licensed environmental engineers to participate in a professional activities and knowledge study, or PAKS, for the PE Environmental exam. The results of this online survey will be used to update specifications for the exam, which is used throughout the United States for licensing purposes. The deadline is July 20, 2016. NEW LAW AND RULES DOCUMENT - Changes were effective May 1, 2016 and includes changes to the EIT application process, decoupling the PE exam from experience, changes to the maximum number of attempts to take the exam and flexibility for active military personnel. Refer to the Decoupling Webpage or the new Law and Rules Document.
TBPE SIGNS INTERNATIONAL AGREEMENT WITH KOREAN PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS ASSOCIATION - An agreement between Texas and South Korea was signed in Austin on March 10, 2016, which will streamline mutual recognition of engineering qualifications and licensing arrangements to work on projects in both jurisdictions. NCEES SEEKS HELP FROM COMPUTER ENGINEERS FOR ONLINE SURVEY
NCEES is seeking licensed professional engineers practicing in computer engineering to participate in a professional activities and knowledge study (PAKS) to update specifications for the PE Electrical and Computer Engineering exams.
